Transnational political incorporation:
International migration challenges the territorial congruence between states and citizens and the access to policy-making of mobile citizens. This project will focus on the following specific research objectives drawing on both quantitative and qualitative research strategies: In terms of individual transnational electoral incorporation we will investigate the turnout of emigrants in national elections in their country of origin. Second, we will look at nonelectoral transnational incorporation through a study of the different forms of collective mobilization and claims- making towards the homeland among Spanish and Catalan emigrants in residing in other EU memberstates.
